The Story Behind The Book: GUN SHOT

Sometimes, I take inspiration for my books from real life. Back in 2024, one of the big stories in the UK news was about a drive-by shooting in a Turkish restaurant in London. It was a botched job. The gunman was supposed to kill a Turkish gang leader but hit a child instead. You can read about it here.
It was about the same time that I was looking for inspiration for the next book in the Murder Mile series so this news item piqued my interest. Of course, the drive-by shooting in Gun Shot is very different to the real life one. It's amazing how you could probably give the same news story to a hundred different authors and get a hundred completely different books.
Gun Shot is book 6 in the series (which is now complete at 8 books) but, like all of these books, it can be read as a standalone.

A few inches closer and she’d be dead…
Rose takes an afternoon off from her job managing a convenience store to do a favour for a friend. Her good turn backfires when she narrowly escapes being shot.
With one dead and two injured, it’s not clear who the target is. After several recent run-ins with local gang members, Rose fears it could be her. She’s desperate to uncover the killer’s identity before he tries again.
But when one of the injured victims disappears, it leads Rose in an even more deadly direction, making her the target of another dangerous gang.
Can Rose find the shooter… before he finds her?
